Advanced Standing Glossary

The terms used in the Advanced Standing subsystem are described below. The relationships between data, and concepts used in this subsystem, are explained in detail in the Understanding Advanced Standing section.

Field Name	Description
% Of Course Requirements Granted	The total number of credit points of Advanced Standing granted divided by the number of Credit Points required for the course, as a Percentage.
Academic Transcript check box	Specifies whether the Advanced Standing details are to be included on the student's academic transcript.
Administrative Details Tab	The tab is displayed in Advanced Standing to show the dates of approval, granted, expiry, etc; who authorised it and whether it is transferable or not. See Create Advanced Standing Details (ADV4200).
Admission Band	An institution-defined value (used by Monash university) that corresponds to a level of achievement (for example, VCE scores) that may be used to meet the institution's entry requirements for a course. An applicant must gain the required standard of results for previous study in order to gain admission into the course. An Admission Band can be recorded for a particular AQF Level in Precedents (see PRDW0700).
Advanced Standing Granted CP	The amount of credit points granted to a particular course.
Advanced Standing Source	This function provides the ability to map institution defined Advanced Standing Sources to System Advanced Standing Sources and is used to identify the basis for advanced standing. Therefore, the Advanced Standing Source field in Unit Level Details or Unit Details of Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) is configured in Maintain Advanced Standing Source (ADVF1140) and is VET process, not HE.
Adv Stnd Type	System defined types describing the effect of granting an application for Advanced Standing. The field found in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create Admission Course Application Instance Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000) is configured in Maintain System Advanced Standing Recognition Type (ADVF1120).
Advanced Standing Unit	The unit in which the student is being given Advanced Standing.
Advanced Standing Unit Level	The level at which Advanced Standing is being given (e.g. 1 - first year level within a course, 2 - second year level within a course).
Alternative Unit Tab	An alternative unit is one in which the student may enrol in lieu of a precluded unit (a unit in which the student is precluded from enrolling).
AQF Level	An assessed level of a course relative to the standards of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), that provides an indication of the relative complexity and/or depth of academic achievement. AQF Levels range from 1-10. Level 1 has the lowest level of complexity and Level 10 the highest. Every course is assigned an AQF level. For example, an MBA may be assigned an AQF Level of 9.
Basis Details Tab	Details of the information upon which the approved Advanced Standing is based.
Comments	The Comments field appears in various forms and allows institution's to add their own information. An example of Comments fields can be found in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create Admission Course Application Instance Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000). In these forms, the comment could reflect why a student has not been granted credit for a previous course or unit.
Completed checkbox - Basis Details	Indicates whether the student completed the course which forms the basis of the Unit Advanced Standing.
Completion/Progression check box	Specifies whether the Advanced Standing details are to count towards the student's Completion/Progression requirements for the course.
Contact Hours	A measurement used in VET to determine if a TAFE/VET unit is identified as having an industrial experience component.
Course	For example, displayed on the main screen of ADVF4200 or ADVF2000. This LOV lists the course code allocated by an institution to various courses. For example, A313 could be for a Bachelor of Arts Course in Professional Writing.
Credit Points	At the Unit Details level in ADVF4200 and ADVF2000, it displays what Credit Points has been given to a Unit. Set up in Maintain Basic Unit Details (CRSF2210). Credit Points are also relevant in unit level Advanced Standing.
Crs Grouped	This has no system functionality. Describes whether the unit is to be regarded as course grouped. For example, may be used by an institution to determine what units of a course have Advanced Standing.
Crs Type - Basis Details	The Course Type of the course which forms the basis of the unit Advanced Standing.
Default Basis Institution	The institution which is to be used as the default exemption institution when creating Unit or Unit Level Advanced Standing records.
Default Major Exemption Institution	The institution which is used as the default exemption institution when creating Advanced Standing records.
Duplicate Units CP	Displays Credit Points in ADVF2000 and ADFV4200 from units transferred via the Course Transfer Process (duplicate units) in Advanced Standing.
End-Dated	A unit with a unit status of INACTIVE. See ADVF2000 for further details.
Expiry Date Increment	Describes the increment (in months) added to the current date which is used as the default Expiry Date when creating Unit or Unit Level Advanced Standing records.
Government Credit Basis	The field in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200), is a reference field that displays values for element 561 - CREDIT BASIS. Values displayed in this form are configured in Maintain Government Credit Basis (STAF1136).
Government VET Provider	The field in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create ACAI Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000), is a reference field that displays values for element 564 – Provider Type Details. Values displayed in this form are configured in Government VTE Provider Type (STAF1137).
Granting Status	Describes the progress of a student's application for Advanced Standing. The Granting Status field in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create ACAI Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000), is configured in Maintain System Advanced Standing Granting Status (ADVF1180).
Institution - Basis Details	The institution at which the student undertook the study that resulted in the Unit or Unit Level Advanced Standing. Institution no longer on Basis Details tab. It is in main part of block - both AS unit and AS unit level (ADVF4200 and ADVF2000).
Last Year of Enrolment - Basis Details	The year in which the person was last enrolled in the course which forms the basis of the Unit Advanced Standing. Also on Origin Course tab (ADVF2000 and ADVF4200).
Major Exemption Institution	The institution where the majority of the Advanced Standing exemption was obtained. The field, found in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create ACAI Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000), is configured in Maintain Advanced Standing Configuration Details (ADVF1110).
Percentage	The percentage of credit for a unit which is to be granted as Advanced Standing.
Percentage of Course Requirements Granted	For HE: Shows the percentage of credit points granted as a proportion of the total credit points required for the course. For VET: Shows the percentage of contact hours granted as a proportion of the total contact hours requried for the course. (Note that this calculation uses the Total Contact Hours, not the Supervised Contact Hours.)
Person ID	The number defined by an institution that uniquely identifies the student from other students.
Recognition Type - Advanced Standing	The available types of recognition which apply to the Units and Unit Levels that form the Advanced Standing.
Sector	Whether or not the information is from the HE, CROSS SECTOR or VET sector.
Status	Do not confuse the main screen 'Status' with the Granting Status' found in the Unit Details or Unit Level screens. The main screen 'Status' is a display from ENRF3000.
Total Approved CP	The total Credit Points approved as Advanced Standing.
Total Granted CP	Total Credit Points granted as Advanced Standing.
Unit	At the Unit Details level, displays the Unit Code.
Unit Deletion Cut-Off Date Alias	Describes the Cut-off Date Alias for Advanced Standing. It is linked to the Teaching Period of the Enrolled Student Unit Attempt. If Advanced Standing is granted on or prior to this date the Enrolled Student Unit Attempt can be deleted.
Unit Level	At the Unit Level Details, displays the code (normally a number) attached to the Unit Level. For example, '1' may be the code attached to the description of a unit of study from a first year undergraduate program.
Version	The Course or Unit Version number as displayed in ADV4200 and ADVF2000 and is recorded in Maintain Basic Course Details (CRSF1210). A Course or Unit Version can have many elements attached to it, such as Expiry Date.
VET Field of Education	Government-defined Code representing the Field of Education of prior VET study for which credit was granted. The field, found in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create ACAI Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000), is configured in Maintain Fields of Study (CRSF1140).
VET Level Detail	Government-defined Code representing the level of the prior VET study for which credit was granted. The field, found in Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create ACAI Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000), is configured in Maintain Course Type (CRSF1110).
