This page is used to create institution-defined Admission Bands for AQF Levels. (AQF Levels are sourced from the AQF_LEVEL Table.)
An AQF Level must have at least one Admission Band linked to it before it can be used in Precedents (PRDW0400).
Admission Bands associated to an AQF Level on this page are available for use in the Relationships step of the Precedent page (PRDW0400) for Precedents with a Precedent Category of 'External Course to Admission Band' or 'Admission Band to Internal Course'.
Admission Bands can be created for an AQF Level for one or more Date Ranges.
If a Date Range is closed (i.e. the date in the 'To' field is less than today's date), the Admission Bands for the AQF Level in that Date Range are no longer available for selection in Precedents (PRDW0400).
For Precedents of Precedent Category 'External Course to Admission Band', the following must occur before the Precedent can be completed:
Only administrators who are authorised to create and maintain Precedents can use this page.
For a definition of 'Admission Band', see the Advanced Standing Glossary Help page.
The Admission Bands page (PRDW0700) is accessed from the main menu.
The following tables describe each field (including applicable Table values) on the Admission Bands page.
An asterisk (*) indicates the field is mandatory.
Field: | Description: |
---|---|
*AQF Level | The AQF Level to which selected Admission Band(s) are linked. Select a level from the drop-down selector. The values available for selection in this field are sourced from the AQF_LEVEL table. (Note: Values are added manually to the AQF_LEVEL table by a system administrator when initially setting up data for Precedents functionality.) Note: AQF Levels may be defined against an external course in PRDW0500. An AQF Level is the level of complexity of a course offered by a tertiary institution, determined by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Standard AQF Levels range from 1-10. Level 1 indicates the lowest level of complexity and Level 10 the highest. (See the Advanced Standing Glossary Help page.) Table value: |
Date Range for AQF Level [number] | Date Ranges are specified for a selected AQF Level in order to group Admission Bands. (Note: Date Ranges cannot overlap.) |
*From | The date from which an Admission Band is available for selection in the Relationships step of the Precedents page (PRDW0400). For the first Date Range created for an AQF Level, this field defaults to the System Date (i.e. today's date). For subsequent Date Ranges, this field defaults to the end date ('To' date) of the previous Date Range plus one day. Table value: |
To | The date the Admission Bands for the selected AQF Level are no longer available for selection in Precedents (PRDW0400). This field is optional. This date must be greater than the date in the corresponding From field for the context Date Range. This field is optional, as you can have an open date range. However, a date must be entered in this field before you can create a new Date Range for the selected AQF Level. Table value: |
Admission Bands for [date] | Admission Band fields are used to create institution-defined Admission Bands for the context AQF Level and specified date range. |
*Admission Band | Enter an alphanumeric value (up to a maximum of 20 characters) for the Admission Band. The Admission Band defined in this field will be displayed on the Precedent Relationships page (PRDW0400), for Precedents of Precedent Category 'External Course to Admission Bands' or 'Internal Course to Admission Bands'. The order in which you add Admission Bands for the context AQF Level, is the order in which they will appear on the Relationship step of Precedents (PRDW0410) when you add an External Course linked to the AQF Level. Table value: |
1. Open the Admission Bands page (PRDW0700) from the main menu.
2. Select an AQF Level from the drop-down Selector on the AQF Level field.
3. (For the first instance; if no Date Range exists) In the 'Date Ranges for AQF Level' section, click the Add Date Range link to add a Date Range for the selected AQF Level. The From and To fields are then displayed. The From field is automatically pre-populated with the System Date.
4. If required, change the date displayed in the From field to a different date, or select a date from the Date Picker.
5. (Optional) Enter a date in the To field or select a date from the Date Picker. This field can be left blank, if required.
Note: For subsequent Date Ranges, if you want to enter a new Date Range, you must firstly add an end date in the To field for the previous Date Range.
6. Click Admission Bands to display the Admission Bands field.
7. Type a value into the Admission Bands field to create a new Admission Band for the context Date Range. Admission Band values must be unique for the selected AQF Level and Date Range. However, the same Admission Band value can exist in different Date Ranges.
8. Click the Plus (+) icon to add additional Admission Bands.
For more information, see Field Descriptions, above.
9. Click the Save or Save & Close button.

4. If required, change the date range, and/or Admission Band.
