Purpose

To enable the recording and maintenance of Advanced Standing Subsystem control and default data.

This form is used to record control and default data used by other forms in the Subsystem. There are five fields and four check boxes. Each is described in detail under Advanced Standing Reference Data.

The Create Advanced Standing Details form (ADVF4200) uses:

• The Expiry Date Increment to calculate the Expiry Date of each approved Advanced Standing record in the Unit details and Unit Level details screens.

The Create Advanced Standing Details (ADVF4200) and Create ACAI Advanced Standing Details (ADVF2000) forms use:

• The Default Basis Institution to default the most common value into the Basis Details - Institution field in order to reduce data entry effort.
• The Default Major Exemption Institution to derive the Major Exemption Institution. For example, if a student has received an equal amount of HE credit from more than one institution, and one of the institutions matches the institution in the Default Major Exemption Institution field, then that institution is reported as the Major Exemption Institution.
• The Default Granting Status, to determine the Granting Status to automatically insert when a new Advanced Standing Unit or Unit Level record is created. The default value may be overridden by the user. The value set as the Default Granting Status in this form should be the Granting Status typically used by the institution when new Advanced Standing records are created. For example, if the majority of Advanced Standing applications normally go through an assessment process before being approved or rejected, then the configured default status would be ASSESSING.

The Unit Deletion Cut-Off Date Alias is used in conjunction with the Census Date and granted date to identify a date after which units, for which Advanced Standing has been granted, can no longer be automatically deleted.

The Advanced Standing Configuration block contains:

• Expiry Date Increments (Months)
• Application Final Date Alias (LOV)
• Default Basis Institution (LOV)
• Default Major Exemption Institution (LOV)
• Default Granting Status (LOV)
• ARTS RPL Grade
• Count Duplicate Units As Advanced Standing check box
• Include Advanced Standing in ARTS return check box
• Include Duplicate Units in ARTS return check box
• Not Transferable check box

Rules/Notes:

The LOVs for the Default Basis Institution and Default Major Exemption Institution fields only contain values for ACTIVE institutions that are mapped to a corresponding ACTIVE Government institution.

The value in the Default Basis Institution field is used to derive the Major Exemption Institution value on ADVF4200.

The ARTS RPL Grade determines the grade used in reporting completed RPL units in the ARTS file. This grade will be reported when a student has a Subject Completion Code of 5, indicating that the grade was granted via RPL for a VET course. 

The field descriptions for the Default Granting Status can be found in Maintain System Advanced Standing Granting Status (ADVF1180). This field is used to hold a default value for the Advanced Standing Granting Status which is used when a new record is created in:

• Admission Course Application Instance Advanced Standing Unit
• Admission Course Application Instance Advanced Standing Unit Level
• Advanced Standing Unit, or
• Advanced Standing Unit Level

To record Advanced Standing Subsystem Configuration data using the Maintain Advanced Standing Configuration Details form:

• Enter Insert mode
• Enter valid data in each field (or select from the list of values where available)
• Save

Rules/Notes:

This data is entered once. It is then maintained by modifying existing data.

If the Not Transferable check box is selected, then any source with a Default Basis Institution of '3030' will not be able to be transferred.

To modify Advanced Standing Subsystem Configuration data using the Maintain Advanced Standing Configuration Details form:

• Modify the required fields
  (CAUTION: This data would usually be set up at the time of System installation. Unit Deletion Cut-Off Date would not normally be changed. The recommended Default Major Exemption Institution would not normally be changed.)
• Save
