Engaging with students and our community

Partnerships with the athletic community

CDU Health Hub supports health and fitness programs through student and community engagement. We have an ongoing partnership with Swimming NT to provide opportunities for CDU Exercise and Sport Science students to refine their practical knowledge, by assisting elite athletes with their strength training program - under the guidance and supervision of qualified academic staff. The experience is an essential part of developing work-ready graduates, enhancing the employability of students and building strong relationships with the community.

Supporting healthy ageing

CDU Health Hub is proud to support 'Outback Active', a 12-week telehealth exercise program for older adults living in Katherine. This program is led by accredited exercise physiologists and supervised Exercise and Sport Science students from CDU, supporting participants to build strength, maintain mobility and live independently. CDU will partner with Southern Cross Care to deliver this program, adjusted for the NT.

This year, we are proudly sponsored by the Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NTPHN).

Supporting the local sports community

We are also proud to support the local sports community, such as the Cyclone Indoor Rowing NT (CIRNT), lead by Indoor Rowing Coach and CDU PhD Candidate - Lee Harrop. CDU students are provided with the opportunity to complete the rowing coaching accreditation through their GRow Program and have been embedded as a part of the Exercise and Sport Science course to attain real-world experience in a recognised National Sports organisation. The GRow program also offers a ‘Fitter over Fifties’ session to provide further opportunities for older community members to feel comfortable returning to an exercise program.
