About the program

Join Outback Active, for a 12-week telefit journey with Charles Darwin University's exercise professionals, to stay strong, healthy and mobile! 

This exciting program is free of charge, and open to people 65+ years, and First Nations people 50+ years living in the Katherine region. 

We accept new clients all year long.

This program will include:

  • an online exercise program tailored to address your health goals.
  • referrals to relevant health services at the end of the program as required.

Outback Active is supported by funding from NTPHN through the Australian Government's PHN Program.

What to expect

Potential participants express an interest in joining the program, either individually or through a referring organisation.

We accept new clients all year long.


Eligibility check

A team member will reach out to assess your eligibility. We will ask you about your age, your general health and wellbeing, and your digital literacy. 

Eligible participants will be on-boarded to take part in a 12-week program of personalised online exercise delivered twice a week. We take in clients all year long.

If not eligible, individuals will receive a notification and are encouraged to consult with their GP to explore alternative referral options. 


Equipment bundle

Eligible participants will receive a FREE exercise equipment bundle for use during the program.


Telehealth sessions

Exercise professionals and supervised students from Charles Darwin University will conduct one-on-one and small group sessions aimed at improving participants' strength, fitness and well-being.

All sessions are delivered online in a ‘telehealth’ format. Participants join the sessions using a desktop computer, laptop or tablet and enjoy the live, interactive sessions over the internet.

Alternatively, clients can attend their sessions in the telehealth room at the University's Katherine Town Campus (19 Second Street).


Program Completion

After completing the 12-week program, we encourage participants to keep following their exercise plans for ongoing health and wellness.
