Emails are an essential communication tool in both your studies and professional environments. They are used to exchange information, request assistance, schedule meetings, and share updates. You will often use emails to contact instructors, fellow students, or industry professionals.

Logging into your emails and sending an email

The video below will show you how to access your student email through either the CDU portal or outlook.com and show you the steps to sending an email. Although this has been designed using the CDU email, the skill you learn is the same for almost all other email providers.

How to write a quality email

A clear, concise email ensures the recipient quickly understands the purpose of the message without having to sift through unnecessary information. It saves time for both the sender and recipient, making communication more efficient and effective.

A well-structured email also reduces the likelihood of misunderstandings and ensures that the key points, requests, or actions are highlighted, leading to quicker responses and better outcomes. Look below at a suggested structure and some tips for your next email to your lecturers.

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based suite of productivity tools that includes applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive, along with collaboration tools such as Teams. It is important for TAFE students because it provides easy access to essential software for creating documents, managing data, and communicating with instructors and peers.

With cloud integration, students can store files, collaborate in real time, and access their work from any device, making it a flexible and essential tool for managing academic tasks, group projects, and communication in a modern learning environment.
