Creative Practice Responding to Country (CRA202)

A 5-Day Arts Immersion On-Country Experience

Charles Darwin University’s Academy of the Arts offers a unique learning experience for creative practitioners to visit and respond to Australia’s world-heritage landscapes unique to the Northern Territory. The Academy of Arts has developed a suite of on-country immersion programs that challenge participants to engage with the landscape through observation, listening and, as appropriate, students will be introduced to the Indigenous culture, language and creative practices of far north Australia.

  • Intensive 3 (INT-3) – Kakadu (23 - 27 May 2027)
  • Intensive 4 (INT-4) – Darwin Region / Tiwi Islands  (8 - 12 July 2024)
  • Intensive 5 (INT-5) – Kakadu (26 - 30 August 2024)

CDU Languages and Linguistics for First Nations Language Contexts

CDU’s Linguistics team have an exciting new program on offer, which aims to increase understanding of 

  1. Foundational linguistic concepts and practical tools & techniques about sounds, words, sentences and meaning that participants can apply to their language contexts and practices
  2. Approaches to language planning for revitalisation and maintenance situations, considering policies, planning models and case studies.

CDU's Treaty Education Program

Gain a deeper understanding of treatise in the Northern Territory through our comprehensive program. CDU's First Nations Diplomacy team and Law School have come together to deliver an exciting new program that aims to increase understanding of Treaties and the Northern Territory. These Treaty Making modules are designed for anyone who is keen to learn.
