About
Cat will present some of the important aspects of First Nations Knowledges shared in the Faculty of Science and Technology. She will show some of the more advanced technology used for this work. Cat is also keen on audience participation on how to use technology in co-development, where the community is involved in designing, developing and implementing new technologies. In particular, how communities bring local techniques for self-governance into development projects. Projects will focus on construction, housing, bilingual programs, and technology to support language sharing.
Presenter
Cat Kutay, Lecturer
Faculty of Science and Technology CDU
Cat Kutay is an Aboriginal and Celtic descendant of seafarers and has worked around Australia and the Pacific on Engineering projects for community development, including online resources to share language for dislocated communities on the east and west coasts. This work was motivated to share Western technology and gain an understanding of First Nations engineering. This synthesis is used in her teaching in the Faculty of Science and Technology, and in her approach to both-way learning. As a narrative teacher, Cat uses dreaming stories of our learning in academia to implement First Nations Law in our work. Cat is also Chair of the Network of Indigenous Partnerships
