Onkar Sharma began training at CDU in 2018 as a fresh-faced student with a passion for Baking but with little to no experience. A few months later, Onkar received the 'Most Outstanding Bakery Student ' - the top honour for CDU bakery students.
After graduating from CDU, Onkar worked as a pastry chef at some Darwin's premiere eating establishments.
Soon after, Onkar entered the NT Baking Show baking competition hosted by CDU on behalf of the National Baking Industries Association (NBIA). Onkar entered in several of the pastry and cake categories which were judged by International Baking judge Brett Noy. Onkar won first prize in the categories he entered and was rewarded with trophies and an all-expenses paid trip to the research and development lab of Puratos in Sydney, to learn from their top pastry chefs.
Onkar returned to Darwin to start his own Bakery/Cafe, and through hard work and application, he has now made that dream a reality. In 2020, Onkar started his own business in the Smith Street Mall in Darwin.
