Computers and internet access

There are computers and WiFi available in all CDU libraries; set up WiFi on your device.

To use the computers and access WiFi you need to activate your student computer account.

Familiarise yourself with the university policy about the use of the internet. A couple of important rules are:

  1. Don’t log anyone else on using your logon
  2. Don’t watch offensive material using your CDU account
After hours access

After hours access is available to current CDU students and staff from 8:30am to 1:00am daily (excluding shutdown periods).

A current CDU ID card is required to access after hours access and must be produced when required.

Group study rooms

CDU students who need a place to study in a group can book one of these rooms. Make sure to:

  • be respectful of each other and the space - leave it tidy and clean with the lights out when your booking ends
  • if you are overdue for your booking or leave the room vacant during your booking, other people may use it
  • do not obstruct the doors of the rooms
  • room bookings are for 2 hours and whiteboard pens/erasers are not provided
Food, drinks and smoking

Please do not eat food inside the library. The Casuarina campus library has balconies, a courtyard and a foyer with comfortable furniture where you can eat food.

You are welcome to have drinks with lids in the library.

There are no places to smoke or vape within or attached to the library. CDU has a smoke-free campus policy.

Noise and mobile phones

The library is generally a quiet study area. Quiet talking is allowed with consideration for others.

You are welcome to answer your phone in the library, but please step outside if you are going to have a conversation. We request that your phone's ring tone is set to silent.

Level 3 at Casuarina campus library is the exception to this. It is the silent study zone. No talking or phone noise is permitted there. You will be asked to leave if you disturb others.

Personal property

Always keep your personal belongings with you. The library is a public area and cannot be held responsible for loss or damage.

Children in the library

If your child is younger than 14 years old, they must be accompanied and directly supervised by you at all times. Children are not allowed to use the library computers. Children on the University Premises Policy.

Online exams

You’re welcome to make use of the library computers and space to do your online exam within library opening hours. We can’t provide silent conditions, supervision/monitoring or technical assistance in the event of any technical difficulties with the exam.

Library training rooms

There is a training room on level 2 of the Casuarina campus library and on the ground floor of the Palmerston campus library. These rooms are used by library staff to deliver information and research skills training for CDU students and staff.

When there is no training being delivered, the rooms are available for student use.
