Aspiring educator and changemaker: Hasan’s Story

Growing up in the heart of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Hasan always had a passion to teach and be a catalyst for change. With a persistent desire to excel, Hasan jumped at the chance to study in Darwin, Australia. 

Destination Australia

Hasan is studying a Master of Teaching at CDU to pursue his dream career as an educator.

He applied for the CDU Destination Australia Scholarship to gain financial support so that he could study and live in regional Australia.

“The scholarship positively supports the social, cultural and economic benefits that I, as an international student, would bring to the multicultural community here in Darwin,” he says. 

Attaining the scholarship meant I was able to continue my coursework with stellar performance and undertake meaningful work with a focus on regional communities, without having to make compromises in the short and medium term due to financial obligations.

Leading young people

Hasan’s passion to teach began when he was a high school student. His own teachers left such a positive impact in his life that he felt inspired to guide students and help them excel in their lives.

In a world where differences are frowned upon, I always wanted to be the difference. As an aspiring teacher, I am a strong advocate of inclusive and community-based education and possess a zeal to empower under-served adolescents.

Coming from Bangladesh, Hasan knows the importance of addressing cultural values, empathy, and sensitivities in learning environments. He aims to help students feel less alienated and more engaged in classroom activities.

Where to next?

After graduating, Hasan will pursue his goal of inspiring the Territory’s adolescents to become self-advocates for their learning.

"I want to exemplify compassion, support and the value of diversity for everyone," he adds.
