This skill set provides the necessary skills and knowledge for people to conduct assessment and operate without supervision in the vocational education and training (VET) sector, in accordance with the Standards for RTOs. 

This skill set is for individuals wishing to obtain the assessment competencies to assess according to VET system requirements.

Career opportunities

This skill set is for individuals wishing to obtain the assessment competencies to assess according to VET system requirements.

These units provide credit towards TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and other qualifications that allow for selection of these units.

Entry requirements

Admission criteria

To ensure a positive outcome for the student, all students entering the program must provide evidence they have access to or are engaged with a Registered Training Organisation or organisation where accredited training is being provided or an environment which reflects the training package requirements of access to a suitable practice environment where candidates have access to a learner cohort and time to develop their practice with learners.

Students complete a language, literacy and numeracy quiz (LLN Robot) before entering the program. This quiz is used to establish:

  • whether the student is in the correct qualification level to be successful
  • whether any special needs exist for the student

This skill set requires the student have access to an experience VET teacher, trainer and assessor to lead validation activities and other assessors to participate in validation activities. CDU TAFE staff to the best of their ability will assist students in meeting this requirement.
