Overview
The Master of Information Technology (Information Systems) equips students with the necessary and broad understanding of how people, processes and technology interact. Graduates of this course will learn how to apply this knowledge to help organisations effectively achieve excellence and gain a competitive edge in achieving their goals. Information systems graduates are in high demand, and at the end of this course, graduates will become experts in applying their knowledge in a range of environments. They will be equipped with specialist knowledge covering diverse areas in systems development (analysis and Design), digital transformation, Process management and database management, cybersecurity and the application of data and information management from a business analytics perspective.
Career opportunities
Graduating from this course may lead to a career as a business analyst, system analyst or IT consultant.
Professional recognition
The Master of Information Technology (Information Systems) is accredited by Australian Computer Society at the level of ICT Professional, and is therefore recognised internationally under the Seoul Accord.

International tuition fees
The annual tuition fee for full time study in 2025 is AUD $31,688.00. This equates to $ $3,961.00 per 10 credit point unit (0.125 EFTSL).
These fees are subject to increases annually, effective at the start of each calendar year.

What will I study?
The core units of this program will equip you with knowledge and expertise as a result of exploring a wide range of information systems concepts. The units are developed to insure understanding IS concepts which are integral for your success. These units will allow you to explore complementary areas of interest through additional industry placement unit or an IT thesis unit.

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 160 credit points as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

Admission criteria
Successful completion of a recognised bachelor degree or equivalent international qualification.
International entry pathway
Applicants who have completed the CDU International Masters Qualifying Program, the Accelerated International Masters Qualifying Program, or the International Masters Preparation Program are eligible for entry.

English language requirements
To gain entry into Charles Darwin University, all Higher Education applicants must satisfy the University's English Language Proficiency requirements for their chosen course of study. From 2025 ALL applicants will be required to supply evidence of this at the time of application. The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education from an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.

| IELTS Academic Module (including One Skill Retake) | A minimum overall score of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0. |

| Common European Framework Certificate of English Proficiency | A minimum overall grade of C1, valid for three years from the date of the test to the date of commencement at CDU. |
| Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic module | A minimum overall score of 58 with no score lower than 50. |
| TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) | A minimum overall score of 79 with a minimum writing score of 21. |
