The Bachelor of Nursing prepares students for the role of a Registered Nurse, to deliver the highest quality, patient-centred care to people of all ages in a variety of settings. The postgraduate programs provide nurses with options for enhancing their careers and preparing them for leadership roles. Our programs qualify for ‘away from base’ funding for Indigenous students.
CDU was one of the first universities in Australia to offer our Bachelor of Nursing degree remotely (also known as online, external or distance education). We have been teaching this way for nearly 20 years, and we are experts at online education. Many CDU Nursing students choose to study online – even those who are located close to one of our campuses. Our students choose to study this way because they often have other commitments in their life that are equally as (or more!) important than uni.
Student spotlight: Danielle Armstrong - Bachelor of Nursing
While volunteering as a medic with St John Ambulance, David encountered incredible nurses who would inspire him to change careers. He enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing at CDU before finding an unexpected knack for advocacy, working to promote and defend tens of thousands of his fellow nurses and midwives in Queensland.
With a passion for improving the mental health outcomes for people living in remote and rural communities, Rachel Ashton has proudly completed her last two clinical placements in the Northern Territory as part of her Bachelor of Nursing degree with CDU. We asked Rachel about what motivated her through her study journey as well as her experiences on placement, and the challenges she faced along the way to become a Registered Nurse.
Seeing her mother, grandma and aunt helping people within the local community inspired Darwin local Katie Chesworth to take the leap and study a Bachelor of Nursing at Charles Darwin University.
