Overview
The Graduate Certificate of Mental Health Nursing is designed for Registered Nurses seeking to expand their knowledge of mental health care and practice. Delivered entirely online, the course utilises the latest research and evidence-based practice to provide nurses with advanced clinical skills in mental health care and assessment. It equips nurses with the skills to provide holistic, person-centered care, to effectively support and advocate for patients, and to take on leadership roles in mental health.

What will I study?
The Post Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing will provide students with the essential knowledge that underpins evidence-based practice. Students will complete carefully constructed units guided by current healthcare needs to gain advanced knowledge in mental health nursing.

A candidate must successfully complete units totalling 40 credit points (cp) as detailed below. All units are valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated.

STUDENTS COMMENCING IN SEMESTER 1
The Recommended Study Plan provided below is suitable for a student enrolling in a part-time study load. Students entering this course with advanced standing, or wishing to vary their study plan due to work, personal, financial or other reasons should use the table as a guide to create an individual study plan.

Admission criteria
Applicants for this course must meet both of the following qualifications:
- Successful completion of a recognised Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent international qualification; and
- Applicants must also hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Division 1 registered nurse
Hospital-trained nurses with current registration may also be considered.

The minimum English language requirement for this course is met by either undertaking previous education from an English-speaking country or undertaking one of the following English language tests and obtaining the minimum requirements listed below.
