A welcome message from the Pro Vice-Chancellor
The Faculty of Health provides education and research which reflects a deep commitment to the health of individuals and communities in the Northern Territory, Australia and globally. Located across Australia, our students, teaching staff and researchers are uniquely positioned to explore health issues that are of national and regional significance. These include cancer, tropical medicine, exercise and sport science, Indigenous health, community wellbeing, birthing on country and mental health.
The Faculty has a complete suite of health and allied health programs: from post graduate medical and health specilisations through to Nursing and Health programs. From social work to biomedical sciences, from creative therapies to pharmacy and from midwifery to medical laboratory sciences the Faculty provides a workforce and professional development for the Northern Territory, Australia and beyond.
The work to expand our portfolio continues and we have aspirations to develop further; with more allied health programs (e.g. oral health), and specific programs for our First Nation Communities and ultimately, Medicine.
In order to achieve this, we need more colleagues to join our growing and excellent team. About Darwin
Darwin, the Australian gateway to Asia, is located in the tropical north of Australia. The closest Australian capital city to Asia.
Some wonderful activities and places in Darwin
- Kakadu National Park: Kakadu is known for its stunning landscapes, Aboriginal rock art, and diverse wildlife. It's a few hours' drive from Darwin and offers various outdoor activities such as hiking and boat tours.
- Litchfield National Park: Litchfield is known for its waterfalls, rock formations, and magnetic termite mounds. It's a great place for a day trip to enjoy nature and swimming in the natural pools.
- Mindil Beach Sunset Market: This vibrant market is held during the dry season (April to October) and is famous for its stunning sunsets, food stalls, arts, crafts, and live entertainment.
- Darwin Waterfront: A popular area for both locals and tourists, the Darwin Waterfront precinct features a wave pool, a sandy beach, restaurants, and shops. It's a relaxing spot to enjoy the ocean views.
- Berry Springs Nature Park: A natural park with clear swimming pools surrounded by tropical vegetation. It's a great place for a refreshing dip and a picnic.
