Grad sparks celebrations at CDU

Hundreds of graduands will celebrate with family and friends at Charles Darwin University’s graduation ceremonies today (Friday, 13 October).

Almost 1300 students will receive awards across a broad range of vocational and higher education qualifications.

Some 16 of the graduands will receive PhDs for their research ranging from understanding how malaria impacts important immune cells to the conservation of the brush-tailed mulgara found on the sand plains of Central Australia.

Mr Graham Bradley AM will give the Occasional Address at the morning ceremony, while Dr Jo Seiler will deliver the address at the evening ceremony.

Mr Franck Gohier will be honoured with a Companion of the University at the second ceremony for his contribution to the development of fine arts in Australia, particularly in the Northern Territory.

The ceremony for the Faculty of Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment; Menzies School of Health Research; Faculty of Vocational Education and Training School of Community and Children’s Services, School of Primary Industries, and School of Trades will be held at 11am.

Graduands from the Faculty of Law, Education, Business and Arts and the Faculty of Vocational Education and Training School of Service Industries will be recognised at the ceremony starting at 5pm.

The ceremonies will be held at the Darwin Convention Centre.
