Students scoop NT Young Achiever awards
A law student with a passion for Indigenous health and justice initiatives in the Northern Territory has been named this year’s NT Young Achiever of the Year.
Mark Munnich is a Yawuru and Gunggandji man from Darwin and was one of six Charles Darwin University students to be awarded during the annual event.
He also won the Minister for Territory Families Excellence in Youth Leadership Award.
Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods PhD candidate Alyson Stobo-Wilson was awarded the ConocoPhillips Environment Award for contributing to scientific research about Top End savanna gliders. Other CDU winners included:
- Commerce student Kyaw Naing won the NT Government Young Carer’s Award
- Primary teaching student Jasmine Anderson won the Zip Print Sports Award
- Commerce student Ineke Wallis won the Genesee & Wyoming Australia Indigenous Achievement Award
- Psychological science student Rian Smit won the PTTEP Australasia Health and Wellbeing Award
The CDU-sponsored Arts Award category went to mentor of Indigenous female musicians Eleanor Dixon, from Elliott.
Category winners each receive at least $2000 and a trophy.
