Scholarship applications open for 2017
A scholarship that helps to support the Northern Territory’s future leaders in technology is among more than 60 scholarships open for application at Charles Darwin University.
Bachelor of Information Technology student Augustine Thorbjornsen became the first Territorian to receive the Westpac Young Technologists Scholarship, awarded in 2016 and valued at $25,000.
Augustine said he was attracted to information technology because the industry was growing and provided a range of job and work experience opportunities to graduates.
“If people don’t start to learn about technology, they might get left behind or miss out on some exciting job opportunities,” he said.
“The scholarship provides financial support so that I can focus on my studies in order to succeed.”
The scholarship aims to support undergraduate students to bring about change through cutting-edge technology, and includes a trip to attend the Westpac Young Technologists Summit in Sydney in April. Applications close on 17 February.
A range of scholarships also are open for application until 3 March, including the Newmont Tanami Scholarship, and the Department of Treasury and Finance World Integrated Learning Scholarships in Economics and Accounting.
