CDU hairdressers pass test with flying colours
Charles Darwin University’s hairdressing training team is glowing with pride after a key industry body delivered a flattering report into their staff, systems and practices.
Sales and Personal Services team leader Linda Manning said she had just received notification from the Australian Hairdressing Council congratulating CDU on attaining “RTO Select” accreditation.
“They said the CDU hairdressing team had demonstrated a very high standard as an educational institution working with industry to continually meet needs in an ever-changing industry and VET environment,” Ms Manning said.
“We’re advised that this rates us among the top two of about 15 registered training organisations who have been reviewed.
“Naturally we are thrilled to receive such an enormous compliment; it reflects the skills, talents and quality of each member of the Sales and Personal Services Team.”
Ms Manning said a representative from the Australian Hairdressing Council conducted a review of CDU’s hairdressing operation on July 27.
“They looked at the professionalism and expertise of our staff, at the quality of our student services, how we engage with industry, the design of the training facilities, our environmental responsibility and other criteria.”
Ms Manning said the representative also made suggestions on ways the team might attain even higher standards.
“With more efficient LED lighting, with solar hot water and with more water-efficient taps we would be well on our way to achieving their special Green RTO Award for environment and social responsibility.”
