VC announces new head of VET
Charles Darwin University has appointed a senior education leader who has worked in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector in two states as its new head of the Faculty of VET.
The Vice-Chancellor of CDU, Professor Simon Maddocks, said that Ms Christine Robertson would take up the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor, VET in mid-October.
Ms Robertson is currently the Deputy Director, Vocational Education at RMIT University in Victoria.
“The VET Faculty is a very significant part of CDU’s operations and it also has a central role in building a strong workforce to serve the Northern Territory,” Professor Maddocks said.
“The PVC VET is a big role, but Ms Robertson has developed high-level leadership skills through working within the VET sector in universities and at the former Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE for almost 20 years.”
In her current role, Ms Robertson advises the RMIT University’s senior executive on all aspects of VET delivery.
CDU and RMIT University have a similar number of VET students.
Ms Robertson holds several qualifications including a Master of Education (Educational Leadership and Management).
She replaces Mr John Hassed, who retired from the position in 2014.
