An outstanding pharmacy student has been named top of her game at the regional finals of the 2015 Pharmacy Student of the Year award.

Charles Darwin University Bachelor of Pharmacy student Julia Shatursky will compete in the national finals after winning Pharmacy Student of the Year in the South Australia/Northern Territory heat.

Julia said she looked forward to representing the NT in the national finals in August at the Pharmacy Australia Congress in Sydney.

“I was very surprised when they announced that I had won because I wasn’t expecting it,” she said.

“The competition has already provided me with such great opportunities, like meeting potential employers and fellow pharmacy students.”

Julia competed against eight contestants from SA and the NT by taking part in a series of heats, which included simulated pharmacy-related tasks, such as a three-minute medicine counselling scenario.

Julia moved to Darwin from Adelaide to study pharmacy at CDU in 2012.
