Big celebrations for CDU Open Day
This year’s Open Day at Charles Darwin University’s Casuarina campus will be bigger than ever as the university celebrates 25 years of university education in the Northern Territory.
Among the free activities and performances will be a special appearance by a big favourite with children, Peppa Pig, who will join the festivities after performing sell-out shows across the country.
Crocodile dissecting, plant sales and other workshops will run at the event as CDU showcases its many Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education courses, its research and the opportunities it offers residents.
Food taste-testing, cooking demonstrations and mocktail designing will be among other highlights.
Kids can listen to Indigenous storytellers read from children’s books from the Living Archive of Aboriginal Language. Australian sports commentator, Charlie King will share his adventure of attending the Beijing Olympics as part of the library’s “Listen to a Local” talk.
Entertainment will be provided by Triple J Unearthed artist and didgeridoo player eMDee, along with CDU music students and the Darwin Irish Dance School.
A unique exhibition tracing the 25 years that university education has grown and enriched the Northern Territory community will be on display. Visitors can also attend campus tours and mini seminars about student accommodation and scholarships, alumni, and parent/student information.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to win a high-tech study pack by playing web-based program, the CDU Open Day Explorer Game.
CDU Open Day will run on Casuarina campus on Sunday 24 August from 10am until 2pm. For more information visit W: www.cdu.edu.au/openday
