Why study a public health degree?
If you have an interest in helping other people, like to solve problems, want to make an impact—locally, nationally or even globally—a public health degree could be perfect for you.
Australia has a long history of successful public health campaigns, like the 'Life. Be in it.' campaign in the 1970s to encourage Australians to be more active or 'Slip! Slop! Slap!' to target the prevalence of skin cancer in the 1980s. While these are highly memorable examples of what public health professionals can do, the career opportunities in this field are incredibly diverse.
Take water fluoridation to prevent tooth decay, mandatory seat belt use, or plain packaging on tobacco products—it took a combined effort from a host of public health professionals to see these health measures and legislation put into place, from researchers and clinicians all the way to policy makers and politicians.
By studying the Bachelor of Public Health at CDU, you'll gain skills and knowledge in epidemiology, marketing, project management, anatomy and physiology, ethics, social research methods and more.
