Requirements, guidelines, and reports

InSchool education placements

Each placement unit has the following unit-specific documents: 

Requirements: Outlines the specific placement requirements for the student.

Guidelines: Provides details about daily and weekly progress requirements. 

Interim report: Completed by the mentor at the mid-point of the placement. The signed report is emailed by the PST, with their mentor(s) copied to the email, to the PST’s Unit Coordinator for review and assessment of progress. This report provides the opportunity to initiate any relevant professional learning discussions or Targeted Support Plans in consultation and collaboration with the unit lecturer. Note: EPR100 does not have an interim report as it is a five day placement. 

Final report: Completed by the mentor at the end of the professional experience placement. The signed report is emailed by the PST, with their mentor(s) copied to the email, to the PST’s Unit Coordinator for review and confirmation of successful completion of the placement. 

All documents should be provided by the preservice teacher to their mentor prior to, or on the first day of placement for ongoing planning and discussion.  

EPE102

Professional experience: Planning for early childhood learning

This unit's placement will go for 20 days and include a two-week block.

  • Ten days with birth to 35-month-old children in a child care setting.
  • Ten days with two to four-year-old children in a child care setting

Placement can commence from week seven of the semester enrolled.

Professional experience: Planning for learner development

This unit has the following placement days:

  • Twenty days (four-week block) in a pre-school.

Placement can commence from week seven of the semester enrolled.

EPE211

Professional experience: Planning for learning and assessment

EPE211 - WEDEC and BEDEC

This unit has the following placement days:

  • Fifteen days including a (three-week block) in a primary school.

EPE211 - BEDGE

This unit has the following placement days:

  • Fifteen days (three-week block). 

BEDGE  Primary 

  • Primary school setting.

BEDGE Secondary

Placement can commence from week seven of the semester enrolled.


EPE312

Professional experience: Engaging in evidence-based practice

This unit has the following placement days:

Thirty days including a six-week block, with a minimum of four weeks of full-time planning and teaching.

Placement can commence from week two of the semester enrolled.

Professional experience: Learning for all 

This unit has the following placement days: 

BEDEC 30 days including a six-week block 

  • Primary school (school Year one minus one to Year six).

BEDGE  early childhood and primary stream 30 days including a six-week block

  • Primary school (school Year one minus one to Year six).

BEDGE Primary stream 30 days of a six-week block

  • Primary school.

BEDGE Secondary stream 30 days of a six-week block

  • Secondary school.

Placement can commence from week two of the semester enrolled.

Professional experience one: Teacher as learner

A number of professional experience days required:

  • Five days.

  • Secondary school (any year level).
