Y NT to manage the GYM@CDU
Charles Darwin University has appointed the YMCA of the Northern Territory to manage the gym at Casuarina campus starting 1 February, 2018.
The partnership between the university and the Y in the NT is expected to benefit current and future gym users as well as CDU staff and students, who will receive discounted membership rates at YMCA sites throughout the Territory.
Executive Manager Recreation and Aquatics Mr Nathan Bye said the partnership was a perfect fit for the Y in the NT.
“The university and the Y are like-minded organisations and all of us at the Y are very excited by the opportunities this partnership will enable,” Mr Bye said.
“The GYM@CDU is a community-based enterprise and we will ensure it stays that way. Healthy, Happy, Communities is our core focus and we’re delighted to be able to build on the strong reputation the GYM@CDU already has in this area.
“Partnerships are critical to the success at the Y, especially with those organisations that have a shared-value approach to address local needs.”
CDU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President Operations Ms Meredith Parry said the YMCA was better placed than the university to develop the GYM@CDU for the whole community.
“Health and fitness is the Y’s core business. We are very pleased to be partnering with the Y in this venture and to see the GYM@CDU grow,” she said.
More details around the gym’s operation will be released in coming weeks.
