Scholarship boosts beauty student’s ambitions
A Charles Darwin University student in Alice Springs has been energised to pursue a passion for beauty, following her successful application for a vocational scholarship.
Certificate III in Beauty Therapy student Estelle Venter said the $1000 Tony Muscat Memorial Scholarship would help her succeed as a student and with her goal to establish a small business.
“This money will open the door for me to set up my own business,” Ms Venter said.
“I will offer more and more beauty services as I progress through the course.”
The mother of three, who is on schedule to complete her studies next year, was one of three recipients acknowledged at a scholarship presentation in Alice Springs last week.
The others were Certificate III in Hospitality student Carla Molloy, who was presented with the $3200 Luma Luma Holiday Apartments Hospitality and Tourism Scholarship, and nursing student Tianee Collins, who won the inaugural $2000 Central Australian Hospital Network Governing Council Nursing Scholarship.
Director Central Australia Paul Fitzsimons congratulated the scholarship recipients and thanked the donors for their support and commitment to the university.
“We are delighted that with the generous support of our donors, we have been able to introduce eight new scholarships across the university this year,” Mr Fitzsimons said.
“The value of donor support so far this year is now more than $640,000.”
Mr Fitzsimons said CDU supported many students with a broad program of scholarships and bursaries designed to ease the financial burden of studying.
CDU will publish details about next year’s Semester 1 scholarships on 1 October here: http://www.cdu.edu.au/scholarships
