Sales made snappy at croc trade fair

A trade fair at Charles Darwin University has provided a unique Territory experience for visitors.

Members of the public were invited to pat a baby crocodile and purchase crocodile products at the annual event on Casuarina campus.

The Certificate II, III and IV Business students organised and promoted the event and staffed stalls to sell products, which were supplied by Crocodylus Park.

VET lecturer Linda Scroop said the event showcased the wide range of business skills the students had developed during their courses.

“The trade fair has given students a wonderful opportunity to put their classroom-based knowledge into practice,” Ms Scroop said.

“The event has also supported their business partner by selling crocodile products, such as meat and crocodile leather goods, including handbags and belts, made in the Northern Territory.”

CDU Diploma of Business students also attended the event as mentors for the other students.

Ms Scroop said students were rewarded by putting their profits towards buying uniforms, classroom equipment and excursions.

Guest speakers from the business industry spoke at the event, including Faith McMurtrie from Mad about Coffee and Tea in Parap.
