Orientation gives early taster to uni life

Students from across Australia and overseas will flock to Casuarina campus today to learn about campus life and learning at Charles Darwin University Orientation before the start of Semester 2.

Inspirational talks will be given to students who are interested in undergoing placements in study areas including nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, science and education.

Students can snap selfies with liaison librarians, learn about CDU’s top academic mobile apps, and receive expert advice about CV writing.

A panel of past and present students and student ambassadors will also give the new students useful tips to help them find their feet at the university. Students can drop into a range of sessions to learn how to activate their student accounts and use online learning, and how to improve their study skills.

Other activities include a scholarship information session and talks about the Academic Liaison Unit and the Academic Language and Learning Success Program, along with academic advising sessions.

Chief Operating Officer Debra Farrelly will officially welcome the students. Faculty welcomes will be presented by Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Law, Education, Business and Arts Professor Giselle Byrnes, and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty of Engineering, Health, Science and the Environment Professor Sue Carthew.
