An Indonesian student at Charles Darwin University has received a national award for her significant volunteering efforts in the local community.

Bachelor of Education Secondary Teaching (Music) student Enggar Daranindra won the award at a recent Council of International Students of Australia (CISA) conference in Darwin.

Enggar said the Undergraduate International Student of the Year Award acknowledged her role as a student ambassador with both CDU and with the NT Government’s StudyNT program.

“These roles have given me the opportunity to help new international students to make the most of their studies while also becoming part of the local community,” she said.

Enggar said the award also recognised her volunteer efforts for community organisations in Darwin, including Multicultural Broadcasting Council NT and Multicultural Youth NT.

“I decided to pursue my current course at CDU as I firmly believe in the importance of music and the rights of every individual to be exposed to music education,” she said.

While representing CDU at the recent CISA national conference, she also was selected to join the CISA National Executive as its first undergraduate representative from the NT.
