CDU library staff recognised for excellence
Two Charles Darwin University library staff this week are being acknowledged for excellence in the work place.
Library client services officer Matthew Grant will receive a University Medal today, while on Monday, Liaison Librarian Bernadette Royal was named Northern Territory winner in Australia’s Favourite Librarian competition.
CDU’s Director of Library Services Ruth Quinn said both were worthy recipients.
“Both Matthew and Bernadette are committed to providing the very best service to our clients and we are thrilled they are being so well recognised especially during Library and Information Week,” Ms Quinn said.
Matthew will receive his award at the CDU Graduation Ceremony at the Darwin Convention Centre tonight (23 May).
“He has flourished since joining us four years ago under the Indigenous Apprenticeship program and is now a permanent and highly regarded member of the team,” Ms Quinn said.
Earlier this year the Australian Library and Information Association asked Australians to nominate their favourite librarian, prompting a student to nominate Bernadette.
The nomination was subsequently supported across the campus in a campaign that involved posters, T-shirts and social media activity on Facebook and Twitter.
Bernadette was one of 5 Northern Territory librarians, and 212 across Australia, to share in more than 14,000 votes.
