CDU graduates get the jobs

The results of an annual survey have placed Charles Darwin University graduate employment at just under 80 per cent, 10 per cent higher than the national average.

The latest Australian Graduate Survey results from Graduate Careers Australia, which were released last night, show that the proportion of 2014-2015 Bachelor graduates in full-time work nationally has risen nationally from 68.1 per cent to 68.8 per cent.  For CDU this figure is significantly higher, at 79.8 per cent.

Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Martin Carroll said the figures were a good result for CDU. 

“It indicates that the courses we offer are responding to the needs of employers,” Professor Carroll said.

“Being a university that provides access to study online as well as on campus, many of our students are mature-age and likely to be in employment or have had employment experience.” 

Professor Carroll said that CDU also performed well with the younger student cohort.

“The national employment rate of Bachelor graduates under 25 years of age is 66.9 per cent,” he said. “For CDU this figure is a pleasing 79.4 per cent.”

He said overall average salary for CDU graduates was up 5.4 per cent on 2014, with the average starting salary for CDU graduates in 2015 at $53,645.
