A Darwin kickboxer will take on the current Australian Kickboxing Title holder in a battle for the belt in Melbourne later this month.

The Gym@CDU personal trainer, Brock “Brock’n’Roll” McRobb said he was up for the challenge after coming off the back of a five-fight winning streak, three of which were knockouts.

“I’m ecstatic. It’s a bit emotional because it means so much to me,” McRobb said.

“I’m just thinking about how I’m going to feel when I get that belt.”

The middleweight kickboxer has armed himself with his lucky charms: A sacred Thai tattoo on his back for protection, and traditional “Pra Jiad” armbands, worn by Muay Thai athletes.

“These small things boost confidence and give out positive energy,” McRobb said.

He said he loved the striking aspect of kickboxing most, and was known for taking down opponents with his knees, which was unusual in the sport.

McRobb said he had been training up to five hours a day, six days a week.

Brock “Brock’n’Roll” McRobb will take on Australian champion Daniel Soeurream at the Melbourne Pavilion in Melbourne on August 30.
