Broadcast specialist enters top Territory FM role
A radio guru with more than 20 years’ experience on the airwaves has become the new station manager at 104.1 Territory FM.
Matt Bern said he would help to sustain the Top End station’s strong listenership and quality radio programming.
Mr Bern has been a Territory FM Drive presenter for the past six years and said the station’s success was largely due to its longstanding relationship with the community, and its dedicated team.
“It’s full steam ahead for Territory FM; its growth has been amazing,” he said.
“The station has a rich 35-year history and has maintained its reputation for being one of the most professional community radio stations in the country.”
Mr Bern said support from a team of about 30 volunteers had helped to enhance the station’s wide community appeal.
“We are a very close-knit family at Territory FM and heavily rely on volunteer engagement,” he said.
He said the station was preparing a live broadcast at the Royal Darwin Show this week, along with a preview screening and cocktail event for the hit comedy, Absolutely Fabulous.
Mr Bern has worked in front of the microphone and behind the scenes at Territory FM since 2010, including as acting station manager since January this year. He has decades of experience working at various commercial and community radio stations across the country.
