When you’re mapping a path to achieve your career goals, you’ll likely be looking at a university and a degree that can help you land a full-time job pretty quickly after graduation. But what if you could accelerate things a bit? Talal Sabri chose to study Master of Accounting (Professional Practice) at CDU because of the program’s work-experience component. Thanks to his determination, Talal was offered a full-time position even before his graduation.

Hear about his experience from the CDU alumnus himself:

What did you like most about studying with CDU?

I liked that my studies were relevant to a real-job scenario. I appreciated lecturers’ attitude and communication. The environment that CDU provides students with also suited me very well.

What do you do now?

Part of the CDU program was to have a work placement with a local business. I was assigned to work at KPMG Darwin for 10 weeks as part of my Master's degree. Towards the end of the placement in 2013, the company’s management offered me a position. I am still with KPMG and currently work as an assistant manager in the audit department.

I liked that my studies were relevant to a real-job scenario.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Get involved and better your skills. CDU offers variety of programs to support its students. You just need to have a clear objective and determination to reach your goals. From my experience, everyone at CDU wants to help you to reach your goals.

How do you give back?

I want to give back by getting involved in program and course development for CDU. Ultimately, I would like to pass on the knowledge that I acquired by getting involved in teaching.

From my experience, everyone at CDU wants to help you to reach your goals.

Lastly, is there anything else you would like to share about your experience graduating from CDU?

Having previously studied interstate and in Darwin, I think that CDU is a perfect environment for students and I recommend CDU as a university that will add value to your career pathway.

You can study a Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor or Master of Accounting online or on campus. Find out about how you can get involved in Accounting at CDU.
