Overview

If you wish to pursue a career as a psychologist, this course offers you a foundation in psychology by allowing you to undertake an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited degree online, on campus, or via a combination of both. It provides you with an integrated understanding of human behaviour which includes the fundamental premise of psychology as an empirically based science.

Successfully completing the course and maintaining a minimum GPA of 5.5 or better (and a credit or better in PSY247/PSY248 and PSY347/PSY337) will prepare you to undertake further study by applying to enrol into an Honours degree. Please note that the Honours degree is subject to a quota, and a student's ability to enrol in the Honours degree is not guaranteed.

Career opportunities

This course will equip you with skills and knowledge in a range of psychology areas (e.g. abnormal psychology, personality, developmental).

These skills could lead to career opportunities in:

  • human resources
  • preventative health education and training
  • community services
  • advertising and marketing, and
  • sport and rehabilitation

Professional recognition

This course is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and prepares you for entry into an Honours year in psychology. During your studies, you can also join the Australian Psychological Society.
