Dr Michelle Moss
Dr. Michelle Moss is a lecturer and researcher in Health Science in the College of Health & Human Sciences, specialising in Health Sociology.
Michelle is interested in creative therapies and specialises in trauma work with Indigenous communities. In partnership with Elder / healer Tony Duwun Lee, Dr Moss helped develop Turn ‘em around Healing (TeaH). The model provides a holistic and transferable mode of healing that utilises western creative therapy practices underpinned by Indigenous healing and knowledge.
Dr. Moss holds a PhD in Social Work, MA in Arts therapy and a BA Honours degree from the University of Sydney.
Awards and merits
In 2017 and 2018 Michelle won two CDU EHSE faculty grants.
She was a co-researcher in a 2018 Rainmaker grant entitled the Indigenous Australian and Taiwanese Art Exchange.
In 2003 she won the Research Partnership Mackay Dept. of Families and James Cook University- Australian Research Funding. Research Analysis, Place of Care, Alternative Care NTFC Award towards her PhD.
