Charles Darwin University’s (CDU) hosted the first-ever Nhulunbuy Jobs Expo.

The expo, led by the East Arnhem Regional Economic Growth Committee in collaboration with local business, Traditional Owners and CDU, aimed to link locals with job opportunities and education, training or skills gaps needed as the community begins to diversify its economy.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore various career pathways across industries, meet with local employers and connect with industry professionals.

CDU Associate Vice-Chancellor Alice Doyle said the committee was thrilled to bring the event together for the community to ensure the local community was prepared for the future.

“By bringing together, employers, job seekers and educators we can help to create a dynamic environment where everyone can thrive,” Mrs Doyle said.

“It is Important to highlight the current opportunities and that are available to the people who live in the region.”

The expo is one of the key events to help support the East Arnhem Regional Economic Growth Committee’s (East Arnhem REGC) plan to maintain local employment at a community level while diversifying and growing the local economy.

East Arnhem REGC Chair Klaus Helms said by bringing local businesses and job seekers together the community can understand the current opportunities that are available within the region.

“Community led events such as this job expo are a chance for locals to come together and understand the current opportunities that are available in the region, and also potentially learn how to progress their career or business if they are interested.”

The Nhulunbuy Jobs Expo had more than 25 local employers with job vacancies register to attend the event.
