Collaboration aiming to improve health workforce
Charles Darwin University (CDU) will collaborate with leading disability service Carpentaria to promote education opportunities and develop the health workforce following the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU was signed in early December by CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman and Carpentaria Disability Services Chief Executive Annie Rily.
The agreement solidifies a variety of plans for CDU and Carpentaria such as boosting clinical placements for students, planning the provision of CDU TAFE courses for Carpentaria workforce development, opportunities for Carpentaria staff to contribute to CDU Faculty of Health and TAFE courses, and more.
CDU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Scott Bowman said that the MoU reflected the University's commitment to bringing about meaningful change through innovation, kindness and connectivity.
"We are proud to collaborate with an organisation that is committed to providing an invaluable and necessary service to individuals and the community,” Professor Bowman said.
Carpentaria Disability Services Chief Executive Annie Rily said the MoU would have long-ranging benefits.
“Our partnership with CDU enables us to support our workforce through education and professional development as well as opportunities for placements and employment of CDU graduates,” Ms Rily said.
“It also contributes to better outcomes for Territorians with disability, including those living in remote communities.”
