New cultural and education partnership with international college
Charles Darwin University (CDU) and the Northern Territory will be promoted as the preferred destination to study among students from the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia following the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU was signed last week by CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman and Australian International Islamic College (AIIC) founder, His Eminence the National Grand Mufti of Australia Imam Abdul Quddoos Azhari.
The five-year MoU will pave the way for CDU and AIIC to develop academic and cultural exchanges in learning, teaching, research activities and more.
This includes encouraging students in the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia to study with CDU and AIIC in Darwin and the Northern Territory, promoting pathway programs through the CDU International College, and facilitating on-country learning experiences.
CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said the MoU was part of the University’s commitment to supporting and growing its multicultural community and connections.
“Partnerships with organisations such as the Australian International Islamic College are key to this university’s growth locally, nationally and internationally,” Professor Bowman said.
“The exchange of knowledge is key to education, and we are thrilled to explore this opportunity to develop academic and cultural exchanges, and further promote CDU and the Territory to students overseas.”
Imam Quddoos said the partnership was crucial to expanding AIIC and CDU’s academic and cultural relationships.
“AIIC is delighted to sign the MoU with CDU. We hope and pray this MoU will be beneficial for both local and international students,” he said.
