For the first time since her business inception, hair stylist and educator Lorna Evans brought her skills and expertise to the Red Centre for her sought-after masterclass at Charles Darwin University (CDU).

Ms Evans is a well-known name in the hairstyling industry, having worked with Matrix in their education department and Redken.

At Redken she worked as a hair director, a role that took her around the world and showcased her styles on major red carpets in Australia, London and New York.

The masterclass was hosted at the CDU Hair and Beauty training salon and was open to hairdressing students as well as local industry professionals.

The two-day workshop offered a hands-on learning experience of how to style long hair and a few tips and tricks of the trade to produce quality hair styles.

CDU TAFE Hairdressing Lecturer Julia Braddon was the mastermind behind the successful event.

Mrs Braddon reached out to Ms Evans to see if she had any capacity to fit a workshop in Alice Springs, luckily she was incredibly responsive and excited to say yes.

Although it was a tight turn around due to other commitments, the class filled up quickly.

Mrs Braddon has been lecturing CDU for just over a year now and said that offering additional skills to both local industry and her students was important.

“We are grateful to Lorna for being so responsive to ensure all industry providers have access to professional development no matter their location,” Mrs Braddon said.

Owner and Senior Stylist at La Hair lounge, Dahlia West attended the workshop and said it was nothing but amazing.

“It was an incredible opportunity to learn from one of the best in the industry, we had the chance to practice and perfect our styling skills under her expert guidance,” Ms West said.

“We are passionate about the work we do and grateful to the team at CDU."
