About

The Community Justice Centre (CJC), in partnership with Mawul Rom Peacemaking Indigenous Corporation and the Faculty of Arts and Society (CDU), is pleased to offer this 5-day intensive course that provides participants with the knowledge and skills to become a mediator under the National Mediator Accreditation Standards (NMAS).

This introductory course provides a theoretical framework, skills, tools and practice for facilitative mediation through an intercultural lens. The 5-day course is immersive participatory; you will learn through real-life scenarios and personalised coaching and feedback.

When: Monday 13 Nov – Friday 17 Nov 2023 (8.30 am – 5.00 pm)

Where: Beagle Deck – CDU Library (Red 8-Level 3) Casuarina Campus

Cost: General Workshop Participants ($2,750 incl GST). CDU Students & Cross-Institutional Enrolments (tuition & student amenity fee)

Delivery

  • Accreditation: Completing this foundation training is the first step in the national mediator accreditation process. You can credit this course towards your postgraduate or undergraduate degree at CDU.

  • Delivery: 5-day intensive course (38 hours) delivered in-person
  • Facilitators: Highly experienced trainers who are mediators with extensive experience in the NT.

Who should attend

This course is recommended for anyone interested in increasing their skills in communication and managing conflict. It will benefit people working in intercultural contexts/leadership advocacy, particularly in First Nations communities.
