Academic supports available to Central Australian students
Charles Darwin University (CDU) Alice Springs campus will host its first student expo to give Central Australian students the opportunity to engage with all the CDU student services that are available to them to help them succeed in their studies.
The first of its kind student expo will bring staff from the various student services areas, including Access and Inclusion, Counselling, Language and Learning, Learnline, First Nations Student Support, Advocacy and more to Alice Springs to offer one-on-one sessions, panel discussions and drop-in sessions.
The panel discussion will be led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students and VET Sam Jacob, Associate Vice-Chancellor Central Australia Jay Walker and CDU Student Council President Lucy Dickson.
CDU Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students and VET Sam Jacob explained the importance of engaging and supporting students in Central Australia.
“We have the responsibility to ensure that our students, whether they are studying online or on-campus, a vocation or a degree, are aware and can access the services available to them to ensure they are meeting their full potential,” Ms Jacob said.
“This expo will give the Student Services team a chance to truly engage with our Central Australian students. I hope students will make time to come to the campus and to meet all the teams.”
CDU Associate Vice-Chancellor Central Australia Jay Walker said that the event would be a critical component in the journey of student success in Central Australia.
“It is great to see other areas of the University ensuring regional students are aware of what the University has to offer them to help them succeed in their studies,” Mr Walker said.
“We have a unique cohort of students and ensuring they have access to all the supports that are available to them is truly important for their student experience and their future potential.”
The Student Expo begins on Tuesday, April 12 with the panel discussion at 5.00pm.
