Students celebrate academic achievements at upcoming graduations
Charles Darwin University will celebrate the academic achievements of more than 850 students at its graduation ceremonies this week.
CDU Pro Vice-Chancellor Sam Jacob said she was delighted to be able to welcome graduates in person to this year’s ceremony after they were held virtually last year due to COVID-19.
“Graduation is a significant milestone for our students, and we’re thrilled that this year students can experience the joy of graduating with their family and friends in person,” she said.
“Graduation provides a platform from which students can continue to learn and develop, taking with them the skills, memories and friendships they have gained at their time at university for their years and careers ahead.”
Ceremonies are being held Thursday and Friday this week with guest speakers including Professor Reuben Bolt who was the was the first person of Aboriginal heritage to graduate with a PhD from the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Sydney.
Other occasional address speakers include NT Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Adjunct Professor Sue Hawes and NT Chief Allied Health Advisor Adjunct Professor Heather Malcolm.
Former CDU student Brittany Kim Hayward-Brown who works as a research assistant on threatened species projects, with CDU’s Movement and Landscape Ecology Lab and the National Environmental Science Program also presented at the ceremony.
Ceremony videos also will be available to view following the graduation.
