CDU climbs higher in global impact ranking
Charles Darwin University (CDU) has ranked in the top 100 universities in the world in six areas of the 2021 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings.
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Gender equality is one of those goals, and CDU’s actions and contributions saw it jump from 24th in 2020 to fourth this year.
Charles Darwin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman AO said he was delighted with the university’s performance in this category.
“Gender equality is hugely important to the diversity and success of CDU, and there is still much to do to make it top priority.” Professor Bowman said.
“We will continue to work on gender equality and other important areas that make CDU a great university in which to work and study.” he said.
Charles Darwin University also ranked in the top 100 for Quality Education.
“The result reflects CDU’s commitment to teaching, learning and research which is critical to positively impacting our region, our nation and the world.” Professor Bowman said.
Other measures where CDU ranks in the top 100 are Good Health and Wellbeing (CDU rank=46), Sustainable Cities and Communities (CDU rank=66), Decent Work and Economic Growth (CDU rank=71), and Life Below Water: the global goal of conserving and sustainably using the ocean's seas and marine resources. (CDU rank=77).
CDU’s overall score increased from 83.4 in 2020 to 83.9 in 2021 which puts it in the top 200 of the 1,200 participating universities.
