Message from the Vice-Chancellor
Charles Darwin University is closely monitoring the growing outbreak of the coronavirus. Over the coming weeks, students and staff will begin returning to our campuses for the start of the 2020 academic year, so it’s timely to reinforce the precautions that need to be taken to ensure the health and wellbeing of our community.
To access the Australian Government’s comprehensive information about the virus, its symptoms and measures to protect the community, visit W: https://www.health.gov.au/health-topics/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov. This site includes information for students returning to or starting university studies.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade also has advice for travellers, including those returning from a destination with reported cases, visit W: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/news-and-updates/novel-coronavirus-outbreak
Any members of the CDU community who are unwell or concerned about their health and possible virus symptoms should contact their GP or a health professional. We suggest you call ahead, explaining symptoms and recent travel history, rather than attending in person.
For more information students and staff based in Sydney can call 1300 066 055 and those located in the Northern Territory can call 8922 8044.
I will continue to update the CDU community as new information becomes available.
Professor Simon Maddocks
Vice-Chancellor and President
