Courses for Defence members

As a current or former serving member you are entitled to a range of benefits including certain fee-exempt TAFE courses and specific university academic entry options.

TAFE courses

If you are an eligible current NT resident, you are entitled to a range of fee-exempt TAFE courses at CDU as long as places are available. As there are a limited number of fee-free places each year, apply as soon as possible.

You can find examples of fee-exempt courses below (both regular and short courses); just scroll down to the course finder, click on the year of study you’re interested in, and then pick ‘TAFE’ or ‘Short courses’.  Once you’ve picked your course, you can contact CDU’s Defence Project Officer (imran.north@cdu.edu.au) to confirm whether fee-exempt spaces are still available.

Higher Education courses

If you are interested in a Higher Education undergraduate degree (such as an associate or bachelors degree), you automatically meet the academic entry requirements for over 50 courses as long as you have ADF service of one or more years at the rank of Private (or equivalent) or higher.

You can find the list of courses offering this type of academic entry below. Just scroll down to the course finder, click on the year of study you’re interested in and then pick ‘Undergraduate’.

If you’re interested in other types of possible academic entry requirements (e.g., having an ATAR of over 60) please read the FAQ entry “What are the VET (TAFE) and Higher Education (university) study entry requirements?” at the page here.
