Hair and beauty students show creative spirit

Colour, creativity and a spirit of carnival swept through the Karawa Restaurant during the Imagination Unlimited hair and beauty show at Charles Darwin University’s Palmerston campus last night.

The skills and expertise of more than 60 hairdressing and beauty therapy students went on display during a fashion parade that won the applause of industry professionals, suppliers, friends and family.

Team leader sales and personal services Bronwyn Hudson said the show gave students an opportunity to demonstrate the strength of their technical skills, and unleash their imaginations.

“We had high expectations and were delighted that (our students) didn’t let us down,” Ms Hudson said.

“I am confident that with the knowledge, skills, and the experience from events like last night’s show, many of our students will find jobs in the hair and beauty sectors in Darwin and Palmerston.

“They’ll hit the ground running.”

Ms Hudson said students enrolled in the full suite of certificate and diploma courses had been involved in the show.

“It was an important part of their learning journey,” she said. “It gave our hairdressers the chance to coordinate a fashion event and the beauty therapy students an opportunity to apply make-up for a photo shoot.”
