CDU and KPMG Australia collaborate for accelerator program
Charles Darwin University (CDU) and KPMG have collaborated on an accelerator program that equips students with additional training to enhance their readiness for the workplace.
The second year of the CDU-KPMG Consulting Skills Accelerator Program was held recently with the tailored program aiming to attract students from diverse academic backgrounds that are keen to pursue consultancy careers within the Northern Territory.
CDU Careers Centre Manager and Careers Consultant, Liz Hendry said the program was highly beneficial to students.
“This CDU-KPMG partnership continues to bridge the gap between academia and industry, empowering Northern Territory talent to thrive in the consultancy sector and contribute to the region's growth and development,” Ms Hendry said.
For the program, CDU’s Career Centre received around 150 applications, with 30 applicants shortlisted for the five-day workshop.
CDU Careers Centre Industry Consultant, Tasfia Miti said throughout the training program students were immersed in valuable learning experiences.
“Students gained insight into the art of defining client problem statements, delivering impactful presentations, and crafting compelling proposal templates,” Ms Miti said.
“Additionally, they received guidance on conducting thorough financial performance reviews.”
A special addition to this round of the program was the inclusion of a CV clinic conducted by the KPMG emerging talent team.
KPMG Darwin Partner and lead for the program, Sarah Hicks said this program is incredibly important to KPMG.
“KPMG are invested in building talent and skills in the Territory, and are proud of this program and the insights and opportunities it can offer to students and retaining this talent locally for all industry,” Ms Hicks said.
This clinic provided students with an employer perspective regarding job applications and what employers seek in graduate program applications.
Ms Miti said an additional and exciting outcome from this round of the program was the opportunity extended to 10 students to interview with KPMG Darwin.
“It's a testament to the program's success that many of these students and recent graduates could secure interviews with KPMG, with some going on to gain roles in the organisation, marking a significant step in their professional journeys.”
“It is a wonderful program that aims on nurturing and retaining essential skill sets within the Northern Territory and we thank KMPG for their continued partnership and support.”
