Charles Darwin University (CDU) is excited to be welcoming experts in the field of combustion for the Australian Combustion Symposium which will be held on November 26-29 at CDU’s Waterfront campus.

The Symposium will explore a range of subjects including decarbonisation, clean fuels, control of greenhouse gas emissions and fire research and process safety.

The Symposium is Australia’s preeminent conference in the field of combustion and continues the tradition of a well-established series of events, including previous conferences held in Toowoomba (2021), Adelaide (2019), Sydney (2017), Melbourne (2015), and Perth (2013).

Organising committee member and CDU research professor, Professor Bogdan Dlugogorski said CDU is excited to host this important event.

“The Symposium provides a chance for experts and industry leaders across Australia to come together and discuss the latest advancements and innovations in the combustion field, especially in decarbonisation of combustion processes and clean fuels” Professor Dlugogorski said.

“This event comes at a time when we need to be thinking about new solutions to help drive innovation to decarbonise Australia’s industries and shape the future of the field.

“I look forward to sharing our knowledge and showcasing the Territory at this event,” he said.

Director of the Melbourne Energy Institute Professor Michael Brear will deliver Bilger’s Lecture at the event and will speak about greenhouse gas abatement and what this means for combustion research.

Other plenary speakers include Professor Choongsik Bae from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Associate Professor Fatemeh Salehi from Macquarie University and Professor Md. Azhar Uddin from Okayama University Japan.

These experts will review the operation of internal combustion engines on clean fuels, hydrogen safety and conversion of waste plastics into fuel.

The upcoming Australian Combustion Symposium 2023 will be held at CDU’s Waterfront Campus from November 26-29, 2023.
